Why Mahmutlar is different from the rest of Alanya
Mahmutlar is not really a resort — it is a town of apartment blocks about twelve kilometres east of Alanya centre, with a large population of residents from Germany, Scandinavia, Russia, Ukraine and Iran living there year-round. That changes the medicine. Alongside the holiday problems we see everywhere on this coast, Mahmutlar generates the work of a normal general practice: blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid, repeat prescriptions, chest infections in winter and follow-up after hospital treatment.
The drive from the clinic in Oba takes 45–75 minutes depending on the season. In July and August the coastal road backs up badly in the afternoon, and we will tell you that honestly rather than promising an hour we cannot keep.
